(...)  Viola has no sense of humour. She's not witty. It's perfectly all right that little Juliet should not be witty, but it's not right for this girl who wanders around in men's clothes and has adventures not to have some mind. Olivia has no mind either. I have a sort of class-president impression of her, dominating, earnest, cold, the kind of woman I dislike intensely. I can see her in dark tailored suits with large semi-precious stones decorating her fingers. (...)"

Ум, а вернее - здравый смысл - и чувство юмора - вот секрет привлекательности от и для МакКарти. И любовь к жизни, конечно.

А мои нелюбимые героини Шекспира - это Джульетта и Офелия. Вот уж кому здравого смысла не хватало :) И чувства юмора :)) Не, я понимаю, конечно, что это трагедии, там не до шуточек, но зачем уж так-то? :)

МакКарти ничего против этих двух не имела, кстати. Джульетта - маленькая веселая девочка в невеселых обстоятельствах, а Офелия держалась с достоинством, когда ее отвергал Гамлет. А достоинство МакКарти высоко ценила :).

Джульетта, может, и веселая, но все-таки больно глупая :))
Офелию почему-то все любят :)

В ее возрасте и при ее обстоятельствах глупой быть еще можно. А Офелия, пословам МакКарти - скучная. Но с достоинством! :)
